In math students have been learning how to do double and triple digit multiplication. Many students have been having “Oh, I get it moments to “I’ve been trying it and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.” We will continue to work on this in the coming days with the expectation and hope that students will master this. In reading we have just finished our class read-a-loud, Refugee. We have begun our Global read-a-loud Amal Unbound. We have also finished reading Sign of the Beaver and have started Pedro’s Journal. During reading we have been working on reading strategies. Strategies include asking ourselves questions and visualizing while we read. In writing students have been learning various writing techniques such as, having a writers mindset, using other authors works as inspiration, or showing instead of telling with a focus on personal narratives. In social studies we’ve been learning about U.S. regions and the various Native American tribes that lived in their respective regions. In Science students have be learning about our solar system.
We will continue with multiplication and move into division. From Native Americans we will learn about European explorers. In writing we will move into informative writing. In reading we will build on our reading with strategies and learn to better respond and understand author’s purpose. In science, students will be transitioning to learning about human systems. Please sign up for a conference if you would like one.
